Russian emigrants in Sweden have launched the "We Sing in the Native Language" all-Swedish online festival, the Union of Russian Societies in Sweden reports. The forum is held to celebrate National Unity Day.

The festival was organized by the Union of Russian Societies in Sweden with the support of the Consulate General of Russia in Gothenburg.

Russian-speaking children, their parents and teachers performed old and contemporary songs in Russian and Swedish. Irina Persson from Karlstad spoke about the history of the Russian sarafan, and Nicole Brannerud from Stockholm spoke about the kokoshnik.

National Unity Day is celebrated in Russia on Thursday, November 4. The holiday is dedicated to the events of 1612, when Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky gathered the volunteer army and drove the Poles out of Moscow.
