Penza city theater staged play on Russians in Alaska

The Penza Theater for Young Spectators presented the play "Yukon Raven" in Ryazan. It is dedicated to the development of Alaska by Russians in the 19th century. The performance was included in the program of the International Forum of the thematic Year of the First Orthodox Saint of Russian America Herman of Alaska, Russian America reports.

The events of the 19th century are resurrected on the stage, when Russian sailors were exploring the territory of Alaska. The protagonist of the play is a historical figure, a researcher of Russian America Lavrenty Zagoskin. 

In Penza, the premiere of the performance took place three years ago. The performance was created within the framework of the project of the local branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

The head of the Ryazan branch of the Russian Geographical Society Mikhail Malakhov thanked the Penza theater for preserving the memory of Lavrenty Zagoskin.
