76% of Finnish residents consider Russia an important trading partner, while 43% are convinced that economic ties between the countries should not suffer from sanctions. These are the findings of a survey conducted by the Finnish Business Analytical Center (EVA), Yle.fi reports.

The sociologists studied the attitude of the Finns towards Russia and the Russians. About half of the respondents stated a positive attitude towards Russians, and only 15% of the survey participants had a negative perception of Russians. This proportion has remained almost unchanged over the past 16 years, the study notes.

The situation is different with the attitude of the Finns towards Russia as a country. During the World Cup and the meeting of the Russian and Finnish presidents, the scale of positive perception of Russia was growing but decreased during the period of pressure on Russia from Western politicians and the press.

It is worth noting that most of all young Finns are inclined to change their minds, whereas the proportion of middle-aged residents of the country, who have a positive attitude towards Russia, almost does not change.
