St. Petersburg performers to bring Rigoletto opera in Dubai

Russian singers are going to perform Verdi's opera Rigoletto in Dubai, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes. The performances by St. Petersburg Opera Theater are scheduled for October 11 and 12.

According to director Yuri Alexandrov, this production has long become one of the theater's calling cards. It was performed in many countries with great success thanks to beautiful costumes, large-scale decorations, and magnificent voices of soloists.

The St. Petersburg performance destroys the operatic clichés adopted in the productions of Rigoletto. In the Yuri Alexandrov's version, the court jester is not a humpback, but a sarcastic, intelligent, evil and not at all old man.
