The Russian charity fair (''bazaar'') took place the day before in Washington, the Russian Embassy in the United States writes on Facebook. The traditional action is held every year by St. John the Baptist Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The charity bazaar was held at the University of the District of Columbia.

Souvenirs, church utensils, products by folk craftsmen were sold at the fair. The guests were treated with traditional Russian cuisine. The proceeds will be used to help children and the elderly with health problems, and low-income families.

The event is aimed at supporting and popularizing Russian folk traditions, and is designed to help Americans learn more about Russia, its customs, and give them a taste of the "Russian spirit".
