Ministry of Education to develop grant support system for foreigners

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education intends to develop of a new grant system to support foreign students of Russian universities. The plans to implement such a system next year were announced by the deputy head of the department Dmitry Afanasyev at the 7th World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad, TASS reports.

According to him, the support measures are aimed at boosting the international attractiveness of Russian higher education. The initiative was approved by the Russian Government and is being implemented by several ministries and government agencies.

According to Afanasyev, applicants and students from other countries (including Russians living abroad) will be able to apply for funds to pay for travel and accommodation under the new grant system, as well as scholarships and health insurance.
