Russian and Turkish presidents discussed safety issues and construction of nuclear power plant

The meeting of the Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place in Sochi on Wednesday, September 29, TASS reports. The presidents talked for about three hours. They touched upon issues of economic cooperation, topical issues on the international agenda.

According to Vladimir Putin, Moscow and Ankara are successfully cooperating in resolving the situation in Syria and Libya. Erdogan has no doubts that peace in Syria depends on how Russian-Turkish relations develop.

Putin noted the work of the ceasefire control center in Karabakh. According to the Russian president, this cooperation is a "serious guarantee of stability" in the region.

The Turkish President thanked Russia for its assistance in extinguishing large-scale forest fires.

Recep Erdogan mentioned the first block of the Akkuyu NPP, which Russia is building in Turkey. It is planned to be put into service next year.
