The 2nd round of Russian-American consultations on strategic stability begins on Thursday, September 30. The meeting will take place in Geneva, TASS reports. The Russian delegation is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. The United States delegation is headed by First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

The first meeting took place on July 28 in Geneva, and lasted more than seven hours.

Over the past few years, relations between Russia and the United States have been characterized by rather heated disputes, the diplomat said. The first session in Geneva showed that there was still some common ground in the positions of the countries.

The parties will continue the dialogue on arms control, security and strategic stability. The fact that the second face-to-face meeting will take place almost exactly two months after the first  one testifies to the working and energetic attitude of both parties.
