A traveling photo exhibition of the world famous ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov has opened in Toronto. According to Baryshnikov, in his works he tries to convey "the spiritual obsession with dance, which he experienced himself," the press service of organizations of Russian compatriots in Canada reports.

Russian compatriots living in Canada helped to organize the exhibition. Russian-speaking writer and collector Maxim Kravchinsky visited the exhibition and compared Baryshnikov's photographs with picturesque paintings that can be looked at for a long time.

Baryshnikov said that photography gave him the opportunity to re-discover ''the very essence of dance'', to reflect on the ''spiritual obsession with dance'' that he experienced and which he is now observing from the outside.

Baryshnikov's photos were previously exhibited at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
