Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov took part in the work of the UN General Assembly, RIA Novosti reports.

Lavrov stated that Moscow does not accept attempts by Western countries to put restrictions on the use of Russian COVID-19 vaccines. In his opinion, the West is trying to discriminate against drugs that have not been registered in the United States.

At the same time, the West does not pay attention to the fact that no one doubts the effectiveness and safety of these vaccines. This also applies to Sputnik V, the Russian minister stressed.

The minister also called the West's refusal to recognize the elections to the State Duma on the Crimean peninsula as a desire to divert attention from the actions of Ukraine, which does not comply with the Minsk agreements.

According to Lavrov, Russia believes that in the course of resolving any conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya or other hot spots, all players must understand the cultural and civilizational specifics of society. The politicization of humanitarian aid has to be avoided. It is necessary to promote the formation of representative bodies of power that would unite all the principal ethno-confessional and political forces of the respective countries.
