Days of Russian language and culture opened in North Macedonia

The Days of Russian Language and Culture started on Wednesday, September 22, in North Macedonia. This large-scale project is being carried out with the assistance of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. It is implemented at the initiative of the Russian Center at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius with the support of the Russian Embassy in North Macedonia and Lukoil Macedonia.

The opening ceremony took place in the capital of the country, at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle. The guests enjoyed the works of Russian composers performed by famous musicians. On September, 23, the war thriller Red Ghost by Andrei Bogatyrev will be screened at the Kinotek with Macedonian subtitles.

Everyone who is studying the Russian language will be invited to take part in a trivia quiz on September 25.

The "Russian language, literature and culture: past, present, future" conference will be the key event of the festival. It is taking place for the 3rd time. It will be hosted by the Russian Center in Skopje.

According to the organizers, they expect at least 60 participants from ten countries. Linguistic and literary issues, as well as methods of teaching RSL, translation and culture will be discussed during the coference. 

In October, the Days of Russian Language and Culture will move to the regions of North Macedonia. The festival will include visits to schools where Russian is taught, lectures on Russian culture and literature. School libraries will be presented with books by Russian authors translated into Macedonian.
