More than 200 paintings from Morozov collection presented in Paris

The Collection of Morozovs. Icons of Contemporary Art exhibition kicked off on September 21, in Paris, RIA Novosti reports. French President Emmanuel Macron was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony. He was accompanied by Russian and French ministers of culture Olga Lyubimova and Roseline Bachelot-Narkin, ambassadors of Russia and France came to the Louis Vuitton foundation.

Macron called the exhibition unique. The French president stressed that the convictions of the Morozov brothers were an obvious imprint of the fact that Russia was a major European power. According to Macron, the two countries need to develop cooperation and strengthen dialogue despite everything that divides them.

The President assured that several more events aimed at deepening interaction in the field of culture between the two countries would take place in the near future.

Bernard Arnault, who heads Louis Vuitton, said that he considers the exhibition a testament to the deep cultural ties that have always existed between Russia and France. He called the exhibition his dream come true.

The exhibition was called the largest event in the cultural life of Paris In the Elysee Palace. It was opened within the framework of the Trianon Dialogue, a joint initiative of both countries. The main task of the Trianon Dialogue is the development of relations between Russian and French civil societies. 

The collection of brothers Ivan and Mikhail Morozov is presented abroad for the first time. More than 200 works of art that date back to the late 19th - early 20th centuries were brought to france, including works by Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Matisse, and Picasso. They will be accompanied by paintings by Vrubel, Malevich, Repin, Larionov, Serov.

The Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum are taking part in organizing the exhibition. It will run until February, 22.
