The Union of Organizations of Russian Compatriots of Spain and Andorra has launched the monitoring of the situation with violation of the rights of Russian compatriots living in these countries. The purpose of the monitoring is to determine the zones of systemic violations of the rights of compatriots and their discrimination, the Cultural Association of Russian-speaking compatriots reports on its Facebook page.

The union asked representatives of organizations of compatriots and Russian-speaking residents of Spain and Andorra to inform the union about the facts of violations of civil rights, discrimination against Russian compatriots, as well as difficulties and problems in various fields.

Some problem areas have already been identified. One of the pain points reported by compatriots is the difficulties with opening accounts by Russians in Spanish banks. It is noted that compatriots are faced with bans on opening accounts or closing existing ones, and banks also demand documents that are not specified in the law.

Difficulties with driving licenses have also been reported. Russians can use the Russian licenses only within six months after receiving a primary residence permit. Theoretical exams can be taken in several languages, but Russian is not included. The solution to this problem can be the mutual recognition of driver's licenses or the permission to take the theoretical exam in Russian.
