Russian athlete Maria Lasitskene won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, RIA Novosti reports. The winner of three gold medals at the world championships proudly took the top step of the podium in the high jump.

She made a successful attempt to take the 2.04 meters height, beating Australian McDermott and Yaroslava Mahuchikh of the Ukraine.

This was the 20th gold for our national team. Russia has the 5th place in the medal standings. In all, Russian athletes have earned 68 awards, including 25 silver and 23 bronze ones.
