Day of the Baptism of Rus is celebrated on Wednesday, July 28, in Russia, TASS reports. It is timed to the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, the Baptist of Russia. This is one of the greatest holidays for Orthodox believers. An all-night vigil began in its honor the night before.

The day before the procession took place in the Ukrainian capital. It was attended by about 350,000 people.

Today the holiday will be celebrated with a special ringing of bells. They will ring the gospel "Glory to you, God!"

The Russian Church is convinced that the significance of the deeds and image of Prince Vladimir in the history of Russia cannot be overestimated. It was Prince Vladimir, and not Peter I, as is commonly believed, who made the civilizational choice in the direction of the European Christian path of development of Russia.
