Russia and US discuss strategic stability issues in Geneva

Moscow and Washington continue to hold consultations aimed at building strategic stability. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, July 28, TASS reports. Geneva was chosen as the venue.

According to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov, who heads the Russian delegation, it is necessary to assess the existing risks and threats, as well as develop a scheme for further joint work in this area.

Ryabkov added that the Russian and American positions differ. But such meetings are held in order to start the process, to identify differences and opportunities for joint work. 

The diplomat believes that the results of the meeting is unpredictable, he advised not to raise the bar of expectations.

The presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden met for the first time in Geneva on June 16. They discussed a number of important issues of bilateral cooperation and agreed to start a dialogue on strategic stability.
