A series of events will be held on July 26 in honor of the 280th anniversary of Russian geographical discoveries in the Pacific Ocean. A scientific conference and a memorial service will be held in Moscow dedicated to the participants of the expeditions of the 18th century. It is also planned to ring the bells in Russia and the United States at the same time, according to the  Russian America society on Facebook.

In July 1741, Russian ships, headed by the outstanding Russian navigators Vitus Bering and Alexei Chirikov, reached the shores of America. This was the beginning of the exploration of Alaska and other regions of America by Russian pioneers.

A memorial service will be held for the participants of the first and second Kamchatka expeditions on July 26 in the Moscow Admiralty Church of the Holy Trinity in Sheets. On the same day, the bells will ring between the cities of Russia and the United States.

The "Discovery of Russian America" scientific conference will open in Moscow with the participation of scientists and local historians. The 20th anniversary conference, which will be held online, will be hosted by the Garden Ring Museum.
