The authorities of Ukraine and the Baltic republics infringe on the rights of national minorities, pursuing a policy to eradicate the use of national languages. Moreover, the leadership of these countries applies "punitive and repressive measures" for this purpose. This was stated by the representative of the Russian delegation participating in the 47th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), Olga Vorontsova, TASS reports.

According to the Russian representative, the HRC does not pay enough attention to the state of the educational system in Ukraine and the Baltic countries. Olga Vorontsova noted that the forced change of the educational process to state languages in these countries completely ignores the right of students belonging to national minorities. In particular, the appropriate training of teachers is not carried out. As a result, the students' level of knowledge decreases, as well as the ability to ''effectively and equally participate in the life of society,'' the diplomat is convinced.
