The telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Joe Biden took place the day before, on July 9, TASS reports.

One of the topics of their conversation was information security. The leaders of the two countries agreed that Moscow and Washington should develop cooperation in this area. They spoke about this during the summit in Geneva.

Putin stressed that Moscow was ready to work on cyberspace crimes, but over the past month not a single appeal was received from the States on these issues.

Russia is confident that large-scale and extremely serious challenges in this area should lead to interaction between the two countries on an ongoing basis. And it should be not only professional, but also without political motives.

The leaders emphasized the need for substantive and constructive cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and the continuation of relevant contacts.

During the conversation, they highly appreciated the coordination of efforts by Russia and the United States on Syrian issues, including in the UN Security Council, the Kremlin noted.

Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on cross-border assistance in Syria, which was first prepared as a result of joint work of Russia and the United States.
