The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova called unacceptable the words of the Secretary of State for European Affairs at the French Foreign Ministry, Clément Beaune, who urged EU countries not to recognize Russian and Chinese vaccines against coronavirus, RIA Novosti reports.

As Zakharova noted, the cynicism and cruelty of the Western countries are striking, as they are fighing for profit in the midst of the pandemic - crossing out its own humanistic ideals and not thinking about the fate of millions of the world's inhabitants.

The Sputnik V vaccine is currently under review by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). According to Beaune, the French should be vaccinated only with vaccines registered in the EU.

Sputnik V has been approved for usage in 68 states with a total population of over 3.4 billion people. It ranks second in popularity in the world.

The effectiveness of the drug was 97.6% after analyzing data from 3.8 million vaccinated Russians. In addition, the results of the study were published in the international medical journal The Lancet, and a review of the vaccine, which states its quality and safety, was published this week in Nature.
