Palestinian diplomats called the attack on the Sputnik agency journalist an unacceptable incident, RIA Novosti reports.

The day before, on June 28, Sputnik reporter Abed Al-Bay worked in Beirut during a demonstration near the Palestinian diplomatic mission. It was attended by both supporters and opponents of Palestine. The journalist was attacked by representatives of the Fatah movement, they beat him and tried to take away his camera. The reporter himself said that people continued to beat him, although he tried to explain to them that he was a journalist and was just doing his job. Al-Bai was not seriously injured and is now doing well.

The diplomats expressed regret over the incident and stated that the incident must have been a misunderstanding. Russia is a historical friend of Palestine, the embassy stressed.
