St.Petersburg hosts International Petrovsky Congress

The International Petrovsky Congress starts on Friday, June 18, TASS reports. St. Petersburg traditionally hosts the large-scale event dedicated to the birthday of the first Russian emperor. It brings together specialists from different countries.
Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation and restrictions aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection, the Petrovsky Congress will be held both in person and online. It was planned to be held last year, but the event had to be postponed to a later date.
This congress is already the 14th in a row. It is dedicated to the Elizabethan era and the very figure of Empress Elizabeth.
Employees of libraries, museums and archives, historians, teachers of higher educational institutions are going to attend the forum. Specialists from the United States, Germany, China, Austria are going to take part in it.
The congress is dedicated to the study of the Peter the Great's era, the preservation and popularization of the Peter the Great's heritage, and the development of cultural tourism. They are held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Peter the Great Institute and the Likhachev Foundation, supported by the State Hermitage, the St. Petersburg Academic Chapel, the Peterhof Museum-Reserve and other institutions.
