Orthodox church damaged by earthquake restored in Philippines

An Orthodox church in the Philippines, which was destroyed by massive earthquakes, has been restored, Interfax reports.

The church was consecrated in honor of St. Helena, Equal-to-the-Apostles. It is located in the village of Little Baguio on the island of Mindanao. it was hit by several earthquakes at once 18 months ago. As a result, many buildings were destroyed, many people were left homeless, several people died. 

Orthodox churches also suffered from the earthquakes. In particular, the temple of Seraphim of Sarov was damaged, which was being erected at that time in the Makalangot village. The builders decided to strengthen the structure of the temple, then it was completed and consecrated.

The temple of St. Helena was also damaged. Due to the aftershocks, the cross that adorned the dome broke; it was cast from concrete. Wide cracks appeared on the walls and columns.

Money for the restoration was donated from Russia and other countries.
