Russian Cinema Week held in Congo

Russian Cinema Week took place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the website of the Moscow Compatriot House reports. The festival was dedicated to the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The organizer of the screening was the Russian Embassy in the Congo with the assistance of Karen Shakhnazarov, director of the Mosfilm film studio.

Traditionally, the audience of the festival was invited to the hall of the Congolese parliament. The Star by Nikolai Lebedev was chosen as the opening film; it received many rave reviews. The ceremony was attended by Russian and local diplomats, government officials, parliamentarians, scientists and cultural figures, students and university professors, graduates of Soviet and Russian universities, and many others.

The program of the film festival included such Russian and Soviet films as "The Ballad of the Soldier", "The Road to Berlin", "They Fought for the Motherland."
