Day of Russia celebrated with exhibitions and marathons

Russia Day is celebrated on Saturday, June 12. On this day back in 1990, the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of the country was adopted. Two years later, this date was added to the list of holidays. The day got its current name in 2002.

Festive events are taking place throughout the country, some of them will be held online. The scale of many events has been reduced due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation.

Vladimir Putin was invited to visit the Tretyakov Gallery, where the ''History of Russia through the Eyes of Artists. On the Occasion of the 800th Anniversary of the Birth of Alexander Nevsky'' exhibition is taking place. Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov is going to act as a tour guide. The work on the the exhibition lasted for almost two years; 40 state museums and private collectors take part in it. 

A large-scale program for the Day of Russia was prepared at the VDNKh exhibition center. Excursions, workshops, quests and performances by street musicians are planned. Some of the events will last all weekend.

Russian diplomats abroad and the Russian Foreign Ministry have prepared several large-scale actions in social networks. 

The Knowledge Society has timed an intellectual marathon to coincide with the Day of Russia. The marathon tests knowlesge in history, technology, art. In addition, the participants are promised that they will learn a lot of new and interesting things about Russia. 

Compatriots from different countries joined the celebration of Russia Day. They launched online actions and flash mobs, organized exhibitions and contests.
