7 million rubles were collected by Russian Muslims to help the Palestinian population and residents of the Gaza Strip, who suffered from the escalation of the conflict with Israel, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Ildar Alyautdinov, who heads the Zakat charitable foundation, it was initially planned to raise a million less. And this amount was reached in a day. Then they decided to increase the amount of the collection to seven million.

Ildar Alyautdinov said that during the holy month of Ramadan, several charity events were organized to help refugees from Palestine, as well as residents of the conflict-ridden Yemen and Rohingya Muslims.

Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia, noted that Zakat also supports refugees and orphans in camps in various states, including Lebanon, helping them with food, building schools and mobile hospitals.

As Russkiy Mir reported, in the spring the families of Syrian refugees who now remain in Lebanon received humanitarian aid from Russia. The Spiritual Administration of Muslims was the initiator of the charity event.

Last fall, children living in a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon were able to go to school. Funds for its work were collected by the Zakat charitable foundation of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia. The school building was erected in the Bekaa Valley, on the Syrian border. 250 people will be able to study there.
