The "Matryoshka's Mission" exhibition has opened at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts in Moscow. The exposition includes traditional Russian wooden dolls, which young artists have dressed up in national costumes of the peoples of Russia, as well as Greece, Vietnam, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Lithuania, according to the website of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots.

The matryoshkas were painted by pupils of orphanages, each of them "wears" the national clothes of the people to which the young artist belongs. Before picking up a brush, the participants studied the peculiarities of the costumes and crafts of their region.

In addition to foreign dolls, guests of the exhibition can see matryoshka dolls in Buryat, Yaroslavl, Don, Mordovian costumes and national clothes of other peoples of Russia. The exposition also features costumes from different regions of the country.

On Children's Day, four dolls will be donated to participate in the auction, the funds received will be used to hold the Christmas Dream festival in Veliky Ustyug.

Earlier the dolls created within the framework of the project were donated to philanthropists from Ireland, Armenia and other countries. One of the dolls was presented to the famous American actress Angelina Jolie.
