At least 70 Russians were taken out of the Gaza Strip, RIA Novosti reports. The Russian diplomatic mission noted that they will go to the capital of Egypt. According to diplomats, they left the Gaza Strip in cars through the Rafah checkpoint. Most of them are women and children.

At the border, they were met by Russian diplomats working in Egypt. They will escort the evacuees to Cairo. There, Russian citizens will wait for the Russian Emergencies Ministry's plane and return to Russia on board.

The timing and format of evacuation of citizens to Russia was determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and the Foreign Intelligence Service.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine escalated and turned into armed clashes at the beginning of the month.

The representative office of the Russian Federation to the Palestinian National Authority clarified that more than 400 Russians and citizens of the CIS are on the list for export from the Gaza Strip.
