The production of the Sputnik V vaccine in Serbia was approved at the Gamalei Center, TASS reports. Russian experts confirmed the high quality of the trial batch, which was released at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera ''Torlak''

The minister responsible for innovation and technology in the Serbian government, the head of the intergovernmental committee for cooperation with Russia, Nenad Popovic, noted that Serbia became the first European country to produce the Russian vaccine.

According to him, the Gamalei Center gave the go-ahead for the release of Sputnik V. The minister called this "big news" for the country. Nened Popovic likened this to possessing a powerful weapon to protect the inhabitants of Serbia.

By the end of the month, the substances necessary for the production of both doses of the drug will be delivered to Serbia. The country will soon have enough vaccines to cover domestic consumption. The Serbian authorities will transfer the surplus of the drug to neighboring states, the minister added.

Alexander Gintsburg, the head of the Gamalei Center, expressed gratitude to Serbia for their trust. He recalled that Sputnik V had an efficiency that exceeds 94%. This is the largest proven vaccine efficacy in the world.
