Immortal Regiment action held around the world

The Immortal Regiment action gathered the descendants of the participants of the Great Patriotic War in Russia, the USA, China, Argentina, Israel, Bulgaria, the CIS countries and other states.

In Russia, the procession took place online. It has united about 5 million profiles of war heroes, of which about half were posted this year. The procession began in the regions of the country at 15:00 local time, and an additional broadcast was organized in each constituent entity of the Russian Federation. In Moscow, portraits of front-line soldiers were broadcast on 300 screens, which were located on the facades of buildings, in the metro, shopping centers, on the Ostankino TV tower. At the end of the campaign, users will be able to receive fragments of the recordings in which they were shown to the veterans.

In Beijing, about 350 Russian compatriots and Chinese joined the "Immortal Regiment". The action took place on the territory of the Beijing exhibition, the procession was accompanied by the performance of songs of the war years. 

In New York, a procession with portraits of front-line relatives, organized by the Russian Youth of America, passed through the Brooklyn Bridge. Dozens of Russian compatriots and immigrants from the CIS countries reached the Brooklyn War Memorial, at which they laid flowers in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War.

In Argentina, the Immortal Regiment action in honor of Victory Day was held in 7 cities. Due to sanitary restrictions, it was not possible to organize mass processions, but symbolic actions of memory took place. Residents of the country were able to join online events in honor of Victory Day.

The organizers of the Immortal Regiment managed to gather an impressive column in the center of Jerusalem. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, diplomats, deputies, military personnel, Israeli youth stood in it. To congratulate the participants of the march, the Minister of Defense of Israel Benny Gantz and the Minister of absorption of the Jewish state Pnina Tamano-Shata came to the action.

In Sofia, the action began at the monument to the Unknown Soldier, and ended at the monument to the Soviet army. Hundreds of people became its participants. Wreaths at the foot of the monument were laid by representatives of the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria, as well as diplomatic missions of other countries.

The "Immortal Regiment" procession for the 1st time passed through the streets of the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On Friday, May 7, Russian and Cuban diplomats, local activists, and representatives of the Greek community took to the streets of Kinshasa with portraits of front-line soldiers.
