The drug for the prevention of coronavirus infection in animals was introduced into civil circulation in Russia, RIA Novosti reports. The 1st batch of the Karnivak-Kov vaccine was released at the Animal Health Center; it is 17,000 doses. The vaccine will be sent to Moscow and the Moscow region, to Tolyatti, Ryazan, Vladimir, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg and other cities.

The world's only vaccine against coronavirus infection for animals appeared in Russia in March. Specialists of the Federal Center for Animal Health of the Rosselkhoznadzor tested the drug on dogs, foxes, cats, polar foxes and other animals. As a result of the tests carried out, it turned out that the vaccine is safe. It also has high immunogenic activity, because all vaccinated received antibodies to coronavirus.

Rosselkhoznadzor does not doubt that development for animals is very important, because some species are very susceptible to COVID-19. Experts believe that the use of the vaccine for animals can prevent the development of mutations in the virus, which occur most often during interspecies transmission of the pathogen.
