An article about Yuri Gagarin and the significance of his flight in the history of mankind, written by the Russian ambassador to Uruguay, Andrei Budaev, was published in the La Magnana newspaper. In April, Russian diplomats and compatriots held a series of events dedicated to Cosmonautics Day and the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space, according to the website of the Moscow House of Compatriot.

The events organized by the Russian Embassy in Uruguay and the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots (KSORS) in Uruguay were aimed at familiarizing the country's residents with the history of Yuri Gagarin's flight into orbit and the contribution of Soviet scientists to space exploration.

Exhibitions dedicated to the first cosmonaut have opened in the building of the Russian embassy and on the website of the diplomatic mission. Also, an open lesson was held at the school at the Russian Embassy, timed to coincide with the Day of Cosmonautics. It was possible to join the same activity in the virtual space.

A flower-laying ceremony was held at the bust of Yuri Gagarin, installed in the center of Montevideo on the square named after the Soviet cosmonaut.
