More than 150 people took part in the My Space international artistic and educational marathon, according to the website of the Union of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in Spain and Andorra. It was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight.

The marathon brought together several creative contests. Russian-speaking residents, as well as Spanish-speaking children and adults from different countries were invited to participate in them. Representatives of Ireland, Bulgaria, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Russia and other states have joined the project.

The marathon was supported by the Russian Embassy in Spain and the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Spain. The project partners are Roskosmos, the World Alumni Association, and the Moscow House of Compatriots.

According to the organizers, they wanted to remind young compatriots about the role of the Soviet Union and Russia in the history of space exploration. Involvement of local schoolchildren in the project was no less important. For the most part, they know very little about Russia as a whole.

Participants could send drawings dedicated to space, answer questions as part of the Space Pioneers quiz, which included questions for Russian and Spanish speakers. The program also included an essay competition, where participants could talk about outstanding cosmonauts and scientists and the role that space exploration played in the lives of their families.
