The Sputnik V vaccine has begun to be produced in Serbia, RIA Novosti reports. Production was launched at the Torlak Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Serums. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) noted that Serbia became the 1st southern European country to launch the Russian drug. He assured that the production of the vaccine in Serbia meets all the strictest standards.

In the future, the vaccine released at the Serbian site can be exported to other countries.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF, recalled that vaccination with the Russian drug in Serbia started at the beginning of the year. He is confident that the production in the country will increase the pace and scale of vaccination.

Most of the residents of Serbia who want to be vaccinated against the coronavirus prefer the Russian drug. According to the Ambassador of Serbia to the Russian Federation Miroslav Lazanski, about 85% of the country's residents would like to get a jab of Sputnik V.
