Putin and Baiden discussed bilateral relations by phone

A telephone conversation between Russian and American presidents Vladimir Putin and Joseph Biden took place on the eve of April 13, the website of the President of Russia reports. The American side was the initiator of the phone call.

The leaders of the two powers discussed in detail the current situation in bilateral relations.

The US President once again invited his counterpart from Russia to join the participants in the Climate Summit. The large-scale forum will be held online and is scheduled for April 22-23.

The parties also expressed their readiness to develop a dialogue on key positions aimed at ensuring global security. Russia and the United States are confident that this is in the interests of not only both countries, but the entire world community.

Baiden also stated that he is interested in returning to a normal state of affairs in the sphere of relations between Moscow and Washington on such acute problems as ensuring strategic stability and arms control, the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in Afghanistan, and global climate change.

The American leader also made a proposal to hold a personal summit meeting.

During the discussion of the Ukrainian conflict, Vladimir Putin outlined approaches to a political settlement of the crisis. He expressed confidence that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements in this matter.

The departments of the two countries will have to work out the issues raised in the conversation.

The current telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Joseph Biden has become the second in recent years. The first took place on January 26, when the leaders agreed to extend the START-3 treaty.
