The first interim results of international studies of the Sputnik Light vaccine may be made public in early summer, RIA Novosti reports. The report will show how effective the drug is.

According to Arsen Kubataev, representing the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the studies cover several countries. Volunteers from Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Ghana also participate in them. The representative of the RDIF announced this during a conference on the prospects for the production and use of the Russian vaccine in Europe.

The difference between the new modification and Sputnik V is that vaccination participants will be given one injection. Sputnik Light is planned to be used for inoculation of young people from 18 to 30 years old.

“To date, almost 2,000 subjects have already been randomized, that is, received this monovaccine. In general, we expect that up to 7,000 volunteers will be randomized, ”said Arsen Kubataev.

The RDIF clarified that the efficiency of Sputnik Light is unlikely to reach the level of Sputnik V, where it is about 92%. Nevertheless, expectations are optimistic.
