The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, which is being built in the northern part of Israel, will receive a throne for the main altar and two altarpieces for the side-altars. They were presented to the temple by the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Interfax reports.

The thrones are made by the hands of the craftsmen of the Cypriot Orthodox Church. The temple itself belongs to the Jerusalem Patriarchate.

The Christian population that lives in those areas is indigenous. For many centuries, the locals did not change their religious beliefs, although many threats and challenges raged around. This is the reason for the special care of the head of the Jerusalem Church for the pastoral care of this region, noted in the Russian Orthodox Church.

A few days ago, the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov), visited the village where the temple was being built.
