Russian cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov spoke with parishioners of the St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in Houston as part of a teleconference. Believers were able to ask questions to the cosmonaut, the details of the flight and holiday traditions in space were discussed, Russian America reports.

The teleconference connected the temple in Houston with the International Space Station, which currently hosts Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Sergei Kud-Sverchkov. Ryzhikov told compatriots living in the United States about a new scheme for reaching orbit, which significantly speeds up the flight.

Adults and children gathered to meet with the cosmonaut, who has been a parishioner of an Orthodox church in Houston for seven years. Technical and everyday questions were asked, the participants were interested in the work and daily life of the crew.

One of the young parishioners asked where the astronauts get the cookies during the expedition. Answering the question, Sergei Ryzhikov showed specialized packs of cookies designed for space flights. The cosmonaut also showed how the sunrise is visible through the window.

The conversation lasted 45 minutes. In the church of St. Vladimir there is an icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh, transferred by Sergei Ryzhikov.
