A special lesson timed to coincide with Defender of the Fatherland Day was held at the Russian-Palestinian friendship school. Children learned about the Soviet heroes of the Great Patriotic War, as well as about a Palestinian journalist who was awarded a high Russian award for working in hot spots, the Russian Humanitarian Mission (RHM) reports on Facebook.

The teacher of the RHM Natalya Kaluzhenskaya introduced the students to the traditions of the holiday, as well as its modern meaning. The children learned the stories of the participants in the Great Patriotic War, whose names became symbols of heroism and selflessness. In particular, the schoolchildren were told about Alexander Matrosov, Marat Kazei and Nikolai Gastello, who gave their lives in the fight against the Nazis.

As part of the lesson, Palestinian schoolchildren felt a sense of pride in their fellow countryman, journalist of the RT TV channel, graduate of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) Maxim Al-Turi. For his coverage of events in zones of armed conflict, the correspondent received the Russian award "For Services to the Fatherland."

Within the framework of the lesson, performances were held by schoolchildren and children studying Russian at the Russian Center for Science and Culture. Poems of Russian poets about military heroes were read.
