Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker ballet has become the topic of a new art exhibition, which began working in the capital of Argentina, TASS reports. The exhibition includes works by local artists dedicated to the most popular ballet of the great Russian composer. Visitors can see them at the Museum of Decorative Arts.

The opening of the exhibition was celebrated with a concert. Guests heard excerpts from the ballet performed by the Argentine Air Force Orchestra. The concert was complemented by the performance of young ballerinas. They study at the school of the Institute of Arts, which operates at the famous Colon theater.

According to Olga Muratova, who heads the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Buenos Aires, preparations for the exhibition have been going on throughout the last year. Participants of a large-scale exhibition project were offered to create works inspired not only by The Nutcracker, but also by the work of Tchaikovsky in general.

Argentina's Minister of Culture Tristan Bauer expressed confidence that this first joint action will not be the last. He assured that there are already many new ideas, and the wealth of Russian culture is limitless.

The head of the department added that as soon as the epidemiological situation changes for the better, the tour of Russian artists in Argentina will begin. And the Russian public will be able to get acquainted with the best examples of Argentine art.
