Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled the words of former US President Barack Obama when he described relations between Moscow and Brussels. They are "torn to shreds," as the Obama once said about the Russian economy, the Kommersant newspaper writes.

According to Lavrov, Russia is considered a stranger in Europe. The country is ready to break off relations with the European Union because there are practically no relations left, the minister explained. The head of Russian diplomacy expressed confidence that Europe's bias is hindering the normalization of relations. The relationship began to fall apart before the Ukraine crisis in 2014.

The meetings of the Russian government with the European Commission, meetings with the EU in the Partnership and Cooperation Council have ceased. And the European anti-Russian sanctions have led to a decrease in trade turnover several times. It is unlikely that relations with Europe would have been better if not for the events in Ukraine. Sergey Lavrov recalled that then the mythical poisoning of the Skripals happened, where Moscow was accused without any evidence. The same thing is happening now with the same mythical poisoning of Navalny.
