Dmitry Shostakovich's music was performed yesterday in the Bulgarian capital, TASS reports. The first concert for violin and orchestra was performed by the famous musician Maxim Vengerov. Nayden Todorov took the place behind the conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.

Concert tickets were sold out almost immediately. Therefore, it was decided to invite the audience to the rehearsal. The musician himself called the atmosphere in the hall “fantastic”, he thanked the audience for a very warm welcome. According to him, he is ready to come to Bulgaria again and again.

Maxim Vengerov is sure that Shostakovich's music will never lose its relevance. It sounds especially timely today, in this difficult time.

The musician noted that the coronavirus made life extremely difficult for musicians who lost the opportunity to perform. Nevertheless, isolation and quarantine have their advantages, the musician is sure. Among other things, he managed to launch his website, arrange lessons and concerts online. In addition, the quarantine allowed more time to be devoted to the family.

Among the violinist's immediate plans is to get vaccinated against coronavirus as soon as possible. He considers Sputnik V the best vaccine. After that, the two-time Grammy Award winner is going to continue the tour. Maxim Vengerov is preparing a concert with Evgeny Kissin, possibly a performance with Denis Matsuev. A few days later, listeners are waiting for him in Budapest, then a meeting with the public in Dubai is planned.
