American viewers got acquainted with new Russian features

Russian Film Week took place in New York at the end of January, TASS reports. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, it was held online.

The Russian studio Rock traditionally acts as the organizer of the film festival. According to its founder, director Alexei Uchitel, the films that were released during the pandemic deserve special respect. He noted that unexpected and very different works of Russian directors were presented to the attention of the public. Some of them have already received awards from various film forums.

The documentary film "Shtetl" was the most interesting for the public. Director Yekaterina Ustinova dedicated it to the disappearance of Jewish townships. In total, the festival program consisted of almost 20 films. Among them are Ivan Tverdovsky's "Conference", "Deeper!" by Mikhail Segal, "The City fell asleep" by Maria Ignatenko, "Hypnosis" by Valery Todorovsky and others. The opening film was "Tsoi" by Alexey Uchitel.
