The Russian Sputnik V vaccine was recognized as safe and effective after the completion of the 3rd phase of clinical trials of the shot. The results of the research were published in the leading medical journal - The Lancet, TASS reports.

The vaccine is 91.6% effective. Out of the 19,866 volunteers vaccinated during the trial, 78 people became infected.

It has been confirmed that the drug protects against the severe disease. It is effective against all known strains of the coronavirus. Antibodies to infection after vaccination with the Russian drug were found in almost all volunteers (98%). Cellular immunity was found in all.

Immunity after vaccination was almost one and a half times higher than after an illness.

The Russian drug has one of the lowest risks of serious side effects - less than a third of a percent. Allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock after vaccination were not identified.

Sputnik V in combination with other vaccines can increase their effectiveness. Transportation of the drug does not cause any particular difficulties, since it can be stored at temperatures from 2 to 8 degrees above zero.

The price of one dose of Sputnik V does not exceed ten dollars, the whole course costs less than twenty dollars.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, called Sputnik V "a vaccine for all mankind." According to him, the publication of the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the drug in such a prestigious scientific publication silenced many critics. He clarifies that the article "answers all questions."

Sputnik V has already been approved for use in 16 countries.
