Book on Leningrad siege released in Israel

"The Pages of the Siege Memory" was released in Israel, the St. Petersburg TV channel reports. It contains the stories of those who survived the tragedy of the Leningrad siege as a child.

According to Emilia Larina, who heads the Union of the Leningrad siege of Israel, the authors of the memoirs are now at least 80 years old. Some of them celebrated their centenary.

Emilia Larina said that the book is aimed at preserving historical memory. Veterans remember their history and strive to pass the memory on to their descendants. Only by studying the lessons of history, you one prevent a repetition of this in the future.

The book was published in Russian and Hebrew.  An electronic version of the book has also been prepared.

On the eve of January 27, the Day of the Siege Lifting was celebrated. The memory of the victims of thesiege was honored in different countries. The solemn ceremonies took place in Latvia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria.
