Russian film Scarecrow wins special prize at festival in Norway

The Scarecrow was awarded a special prize at the international film festival in Norway, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes. The jury of the film forum, which was held in Tromso, noted the work of the Yakut director Dmitry Davydov with a special the Faith in Cinema award.

The organizers included two films by Dmitry Davydov in the festival program. He expressed his gratitude to the jury for supporting the cinema created in the Far North.

Earlier, the Scarecrow won the Grand Prix at the Kinotavr Film Festival. The leading actress Valentina Romanova-Chyskyyrai was recognized as the best actress of the film festival. The film tells the story of a hermit healer. The villagers are afraid of her and try to avoid her, but they still turn to her. The Scarecrow also won a Guild of Historians and Critics Guild Award.

The festival in Tromso is considered the largest in Northern Europe. The Faith in Cinema Award recognizes films that reflect on religion and its place in society. The winner is presented with a hand-painted icon in the Carmelite monastery in Tromso.
