The centenary of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad (ROCOR) will be celebrated with a large-scale international conference, according to the website of the Moscow Compatriot House. The forum is scheduled for January 28. Its topic will be the history of the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem as part of the ROCOR.

Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, the conference will be held online. It will be dedicated to the role that ROCOR played in preserving the Russian presence in the Holy Land throughout the 20th century with its difficult history.

The organizers propose to pay special attention to the fate and service of the ascetics of the Russian spiritual mission, to the life of Russian monasteries in the Holy Land, to the pilgrimage to the Holy Land from the Russian diaspora.

The forum program will also include a round table. Its theme will be “Serving the Russian Spiritual Mission (ROCOR) in the 21st century: continuation of traditions and new tasks”.

After the end of the forum, a collection of articles and archival materials will be released.
