Russian gas has begun to flow to Serbia, TASS reports. The day before, on January 1, the Balkan Stream gas pipeline was launched. It is a continuation of one of the lines of the Turkish Stream.

The head of state, Aleksandr Vucic, started the launch at gas metering station No. 4. It is located in the village of Gospodzhintsi, which is located near the city of Novi Sad.

The Serbian President has no doubts that this day is of great importance for the whole country and for the entire people. According to him, the price for gas will be much lower. Alexander Vucic expressed confidence that natural gas will attract new investments to the country.

A lot still needs to be done in the country to build a secondary network, but the gas pipeline allows us to hope for a bright future, the Serbian leader is convinced. He expressed gratitude to his Russian colleague. Alexander Vucic thanked the gas pipeline builders separately.

Russian Ambassador Alexander Botan-Kharchenko believes that the start of the gas pipeline can be compared to a New Year gift. According to him, the project is a guarantee of Serbia's stability. With its help, the country can develop internal infrastructure.

The head of the Serbiyagaz company, Dusan Bayatovic, promised that they would start building internal and regional highways in the shortest possible time.

The length of the section passing through Serbian territory exceeds 400 kilometers. It will supply gas from Russia to Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary.
