Pisa University students learned about Italian heritage in Moscow

25.12.2020

The Russian Center of the University of Pisa organized an online excursion on the Italian trace in the history of Moscow.

In the 15th century, Italian architects made a significant contribution to the creation of the appearance of the Kremlin, having built most of the buildings there, and in the 18th century, Italian architects created the old Gostiny Dvor, the Bolshoi Theater, the Triumphal Gate and the Alexander Garden.

Students of the Russian Center were able to virtually visit Moscow with a Russian-speaking guide and learn a lot about the cultural and historical ties between Italy and Russia.

Italian entrepreneur Marco Maggi's book, "Russian to the Bone," is now accessible for purchase in Italy and is scheduled for release in Russia in the upcoming months. In the book, Marco recounts his personal odyssey, narrating each stage of his life as a foreigner in Russia—starting from the initial fascination to the process of cultural assimilation, venturing into business, fostering authentic friendships, and ultimately, reaching a deep sense of identifying as a Russian at his very core.
