The RSL teachers, who became the winners of the International Pushkin Competition, received well-deserved awards. This year, for the 20th time, it has united teachers of Russian studies from different countries, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, which organizes the creative competition, writes. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the awards ceremony was held online.

The competition was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The Pushkin Competition was started in 2000, the initiative was supported by the Moscow government and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hundreds of creative works have been sent to the organizing committee since then; for 19 years, 950 Russian language teachers from many countries have become laureates of the Pushkin competition.

This year it was decided that 75 people would receive awards in honor of the victory anniversary. There are 50 new laureates, as usual. Another 25 are the winners of the previous years. The family of Pushkin's teachers now unites a thousand people.

Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi is sure that "Russian literature and language is not only a matter of literacy, it is a matter of faith." Therefore, he has no doubts that the laureates will definitely meet in Moscow.

In total, more than 500 works came from 42 countries. The teachers from Uzbekistan became the most active, having sent 112 essays. For the first time, the participants included representatives from Iran and Lebanon.
